I really want to play the game, and was at first put off by the monthly fee. But oh well, might as well just live with it. I would like to know at what stage you subscribe. Does a subscription box come up during/after installation, and if so, can you not play at all before subscribing. Or must you subscribe per internet? Thanks, hope this game’s worth it

   If you bought the game, you have the first 30 days of play for free. After that, you need to subscribe. First you need to create an account here: http://www.startrekonline.com/
   If you have your game key, you need to go here: http://www.startrekonline.com/activate
   Log on to your account to then choose your subscription option. It is $14.99 recurring. They offer lifetime and friends (1 year lump sum) options, but they expensive.
   You’ll not be able to play until you activate your key.

   If you buy the game, you get a 30 day subscription automatically. At the end of the 30 days, you will have to pay a monthly subscription to keep playing. I think it’s $16.99 a month.
