   No, you can not be attacked randomly by other players. The PvP is restricted to certain areas and anyone wanting to “sparr” with you would need your consent first. STO related sites (including official) are popping up all over the need, just google Star Trek Online.

   In STO, PvP is consensual and/or restricted to certain areas.
   There are also instanced battles with NPC’s .
